Astrology has been having a moment for a while now, and you might have noticed that your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs make for a great conversation starter.
It’s fun to connect with others over shared placements, and one of my favorite things about astrology is that it gives us a language to understand personalities and perspectives wholly different than our own.
But here’s the truth…
Just knowing your placements does not add value to your life.
Sorry!
Knowing our Sun, Moon, and Rising doesn’t give us spiritual brownie points, and it doesn’t count as inner work.
Again, sorry!
To really experience astrology’s magic, we have to dig deeper.
Astrology is a living mirror, reflecting us back to ourselves.
It’s a rich and dynamic medium for understanding why we are the way we are, the ebbs and flows of our life path, and most importantly, what our unique soul work is in this life.
There are 2 main ways we can use astrology.
(Pretty much all astrology offerings you see will fall under one of these umbrellas).
Managing Our External World.
This type of astrology is about timing, predictions, and preparing for the cosmic “weather” ahead.
When should you make a move in your career? When will a relationship bloom, or find completion? Etc.
It’s about knowing how external events might unfold, and preparing for them.
Managing Our Inner World.
This type of astrology is about self-awareness, shifting patterns, healing, and growth.
It’s about aligning with your authenticity, and making sense of the emotional and spiritual journey you're on.
To me, this is where the true magic lies!
Now, I use both approaches in my practice.
Just like it’s helpful to know when you’ll need an umbrella, knowing the cosmic “weather” can help us feel more prepared, and in flow with life.
But in reality, we can’t control the external world.
Life will always throw us curveballs, and no matter how psychic or skilled an astrologer is, humans make errors when predicting the future.
To me, living well means being fully engaged in the present.
Being in touch with our inner world helps us meet any external circumstance with self trust, empowerment, and authenticity.
When we use astrology for self-discovery, we unlock profound power.
Synchronicities show up, doors open, and we move through even the triggering and painful times with a deep sense of purpose, freedom, and confidence.
