For many years I battled with my body.
My body was my enemy, one of us always punishing the other.
But when I became severely ill with hormone imbalances as a teenager, my whole perspective changed.
I realized I had to stop forcing and berating myself into harmful standards of “goodness.”
My young ballerina life did a lot of damage… but in some way we are all healing from the patriarchal narratives around what bodies are supposed to be / do / look like.
Your body is heavenly is a rebellion. A rebellion against the hundreds of years the body has been called dumb, a logic-lacking animal that needs squeezing and sucking and starving into “shape”.
Your body is heavenly is a form of activism. Because when you start to see your own body through the eyes of compassion, you can’t help but see the bodies of others as worthy of safety & protection as well.

The body is the altar of our life.
It is with and through the body that we can experience life at all.
An altar is a place where something holy occurs. It’s where we worship, pray, make commitments, and spill our hearts out to the kind benevolent parent we imagine is “up” there listening.
Like any altar practice, tending to the relationship with the body is very personal, intimate, and sacred.
And when we turn towards the body as an altar, we apply a different kind of care towards it.
The body is no longer a last thought, something to bypass, or shame.
It’s place of reverence, of conversation, and intentions that go beyond thought into action.
Your body is heavenly is form of devotion. It means bowing to the intelligence of the body, the earth, the ancient instinct to rise with the sun and dream under the stars.
Your body is heavenly is a relationship. It’s a guide for befriending the body, our first and last partner in this life.

Astrology is connected to the body.
Each sign and planet has physical correspondences.1
This symbolic interweaving of astrology with the body can be used as inspiration for approaching the body intentionally, as well as for astrological prediction regarding health (aka the field of medical astrology).
The bodies of the heavens can help us tell the stories of what’s going on in our own bodies – as above, so below.
Your body is heavenly is magic embodied. It’s a recognition of our innate connection with the whole of the wild cosmos.
Your body is heavenly is a way of seeing yourself mirrored in the stars.

I acknowledge that I live and work on the stolen, ancestral lands of the Lenape people. I humbly give respect and reverence to those who have always been here.
For example, Pisces rules the feet & the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system’s connection to the Pisces archetype has to do with the empathic / healer nature of Pisces, and their ability to take the pain / toxins of others and remove them, mirroring the function of the lymphatic system.
Pisces ruling the feet is a bit of a mystery to me, but I suspect it has something to do with Pisces ability to become one with their environment, and the fact that our feet connect us physically to where we are.
This resonates so much - thank you! Seeing my relationship my body as something that is just that, relational - really shifted so much for me. I didn’t realize how much I had been disassociating and often in a nervous system freeze. My mind was very bossy and dominant, but I thought that was just the way things were. Coming back into right relation with my physical self (or working to) has made such a profound difference in my life.
